Concerning the fierce battle near the Mariabaan: The sherman commanded by Lance Sergeant Aldege Tessier was holed by German antitankfire, and he and Guardsman Robert Parent were killed*. Lance Sergeant Aldege Tessier was first buried in a field grave at the junction of Velodreef, Nolsebaan and Schelpheuvelstraat in Essen (Belgium) and then reburied in the Canadian cemetery of Bergen op Zoom.
