Stanley Hurst died on 28 October 1944 in Nispen, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands, when he was just 22 years old.
He died in the morning of 28 October near Oostlaar during the battle to liberate Wouw. He fell together with Arthur Wright, Alfred Murrell and Charles Price, all troopers from the B Squadron 49th Reconnaissance Regiment. Luitenenant S. Probert was evecuated with wounds during that fight.
He was burried on land 100 yards west from the railroadcrossing at Grensstraat in Nispen. After the war his body was exhumed and reburied at the Bergen-op-Zoom English War Cemetery, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands.
