Concerning the fierce battle on the Mariabaan: A little after midnight, tragedy struck once again when a Browning machine gun accidentally discharged towards the headquarters tank of No. 3 Squadron. Major Robert Fernand Major was killed by the burst and Captain E.F. Mooers seriously wounded.*
