Geoffrey Wallace died on 29 October 1944 in Nispen, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands, when he was just 21 years old. Both G. Wallace and J. Venables were killed when clearing mines on the road from Esschen to Nispen. The particular incident was mentioned in the War Diary of the 757th Field Company, Royal Engineers. Both soldiers were buried in a field grave close to the road junction of Maststraat and Eerenburg northwest of Nispen, and then reburied in the cemetery of Bergen op Zoom.
Interesting to note on the temporary war memorial in Nispen, the name was mentioned as Walage instead of Wallace by error.
