Serjeant Kenneth Virgo was heavily wounded on 26 October 1944 during the liberation of Nispen due to a mortar shrapnel shell that impacted his head. He died of wounds on 31 October 1944* and was cremated at Bournemouth Crematorium and North Cemetery.. The family assumes he was still alive when transported back to the UK and died in a hospital. The tank model was handmade by Kenneth Virgo for his daughter.
